Earlier this week, EbonyLife Tv’s Castle & Castle debuted. In this post, I highlight six things we the audience can expect to see from the show.
Watch 6 Things We Can Expect From EbonyLife Tv’s Castle & Castle [Article Continues After The Video]
Nigerian filmmakers these days leverage heavily on how much Nigerians love a good laugh. Many projects are intentionally spiced with scenes whose sole purpose is to elicit laughter from the audience. Judging entirely from the trailer, EbonyLife Tv’s Castle & Castle is much like many others indigenous projects in this regard. Yes, it is a legal drama series, but from the trailer, we have seen a number of highly comical scenes. And, if that is anything to go by, we can expect to see more of such scenes from the show.
Extended Family Drama
And, by extended family, I simply mean Tega’s – Richard Mofe-Damijo – father-in-law, played by Bimbo Manuel. The character is one of the main features from the trailer, and we see him, unapologetically, give his son-in-law a tough time by taking sides with his daughter and instigating her to take a stand against his decisions concerning the firm.
What’s a workplace without some completion and rivalry, healthy and unhealthy, alike? And, I daresay, we can expect to see workplace completion and rivalry in EbonyLife Tv’s Castle & Castle. The trailer hints at this with the exchange between Deyemi Okanlawon and Blossom Chukwujekwu. We see Blossom Chukwujekwu’s character put Deyemi Okanlawon’s character in his place by reminding him of his inadequacies. And, in office environments, such talks, as we know, usually stems as a response to completion, and fuels it, likewise.
Corporate Freaky Freaky
Second scene of the trailer… ‘nuff said!
The synopsis of Ebonylife Tv’s Castle & Castle, already reveals that things wouldn’t go smoothly between Mr & Mrs. Castle. The synopsis cites work-based differences as the major cause. However, beyond work differences, we begin to see alliances that tend towards conspiracy from the show’s trailer. Especially the one with Mrs. Castle and one of her employees, played by Daniel Etim Effiong.
EbonyLife Tv’s Castle & Castle is a legal drama series. Hence, it goes without saying that the audience can expect a show packed with legal drama. The show isn’t tagged ‘Nigeria’s First Legal Drama,’ for no reason, and we’ve already seen glimpses of that from the trailer. I just hope we get to see much more serious legal drama from the show as it progresses. I’m saying this because the scene from the trailer seems to be geared more towards amusing. I want to see scenes that will give Olivia Pope and Annalise Keating vibes.
