I just feel like addressing bloggers once again. My fellow bloggers. I honestly just feel like I could do a little more after this post and this one too. I feel like there is still a little more in me to share – there will always be a little more.
Why am I even writing these posts? The truth is, I am not writing them because I consider myself “experienced” or “established” as a blogger yet. I am not even close to being regarded as an authority in this field. I might never even be. With that said, you will not be wrong to dismiss whatever I say here – what do I know? Like the majority of people that would eventually read this, I am also on this journey myself. I’m also learning as I progress down this road. So, as much as these posts are published to encourage others out there, they equally encourage me too. That’s the reason why I write them.
In this post, I will talk about the important of perseverance in a blogging career. Perseverance is essential for anyone on this journey. It can never be overemphasized. Ask any blogger that you know of. Most preferably, one who has been at it for a while. Chances are really high they will tell you it has not been a joyride. And that is the gospel truth; blogging is not always a joyride. Certainly, there will be the good days. But there will also be those days that will be completely devoid of anything encouraging.
There will be days when you will feel down. Like everything is working to against you. There will be days when the response will be poor. So poor, you will consider throwing in the towel. I can assure you, most especially in the early days, you will be tempted severally to quit. You will be discouraged. So discouraged by the most unlikely things. You will find yourself thinking about focusing on something completely different. Anything apart from life as a blogger will seem like a reasonable option in times like this.
I talked about the importance of having genuine intentions before setting up a blog in a previous post. But here is the thing; even genuine intentions will not shield you from these days. You are not exempt from days like this because you possess untainted motives. As much as a pure intention is important, it does not guarantee you ease on this journey. Doing everything right is not a guarantee either. These days are just bound to be experienced along the way.
It is no secret that stats mean a lot to bloggers. It is arguably the major metric for measuring how well or not so well a blog is faring. And yes, you might have mapped out a highly systematic approach to help you gather encouraging stats. But, no matter how effective your plan is, best believe there will be days where they’ll fail. And woefully too.
If you really want this, you cannot afford to be derailed because of these discouraging occurrences. Yes, they will come. They will test your resolve. And yes, your morale will suffer seriously. But then, know that you have everything it takes to live through such days. Yes, you do. Those are only tough days, you are a tough person. Remember what they say about tough people in the face of tough times. Everything it takes to come out on the other side stronger and more determined dwells within you. Those are just days that call you to pull your weight. So do it. Don’t complain. Persevere. Dear blogger, there will be disheartening days, but you cannot afford to back out on such days.
